Privacy Policy

1. Summary

NyanGo is designed to translate text you choose to capture or enter. We do not operate a user account system that requires your name, email address, or phone number to use core features. However, the App processes content you submit for translation and uses third-party services for ads, crash reporting, billing, and cloud translation.

2. Information We Process

2.1 Content you provide for translation

When you use screen capture, region selection, camera, photo picker, speech input, or manual text entry, the App processes the text or images needed to perform translation. Screen captures and images are used to detect and translate text. When you choose the Offline Translate engine, recognized text is translated on your device and is not sent to our translation servers for that request. We do not use captured screen content for unrelated purposes such as building a personal profile about you.

2.2 Local app data

The App may store settings, theme choices, translation history, wallet or credit state, daily reward progress, a device install identifier, and Offline Translate language models you choose to download (typically tens of megabytes per language) locally on your device using on-device storage. Those models remain until you remove them in the App or clear / uninstall the App.

2.3 Technical and diagnostic data

We and our service providers may collect limited technical information such as app version, device model, operating system version, crash logs, performance events, and coarse usage signals to maintain reliability and security.

3. Permissions and Why We Request Them

• Display over other apps / overlay: Shows the translation bubble and overlay UI above other applications.
• Screen capture / media projection: Required for screen translation features. Captured content is processed to detect text and produce translations.
• Foreground service and notifications: Keeps capture-related services running reliably and may show status notifications while translation is active. If you leave notifications on, the app can also schedule an on-device reminder when your daily reward resets. That reminder stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. You can turn all app notifications off in More.
• Camera and photos: Used only when you choose photo-based translation.
• Microphone and speech recognition: Used only when you choose speech input translation.

You can revoke permissions in Android system settings. Some features will not work without the permissions they require.

4. How We Use Information

• Provide, operate, and improve translation features
• Enforce usage limits, subscriptions, credits, and rewards rules
• Optionally remind you on this device when a daily reward resets, if notifications are on
• Process purchases through app store billing systems
• Display advertisements in the free and some paid tiers
• Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and protect against abuse
• Respond to support requests you send us

5. How Translation Is Processed

5.1 Cloud translation

When you use a cloud translation engine (for example Gemini or Google Translate in the App), certain requests are sent to our backend services hosted on Google Cloud / Firebase infrastructure. Manual text translation may use Google Cloud Translation API. Screen overlay, bubble, and vision-based translation may send extracted text, text blocks, or screenshots to Google Gemini (Google's generative AI service) for OCR and translation. These requests may include limited metadata needed to apply usage controls and protect the service. Please do not submit sensitive personal, financial, medical, or confidential information unless you accept the risk of transmitting it for processing.

5.2 Offline Translate

Offline Translate uses Google ML Kit on-device translation. Language models are downloaded to your device through Google Play services when you choose to install them. After a model is on the device, overlay translation with that engine runs locally: we do not send the captured text or screenshot to our servers for that translation. Google may still process the model download itself under Google's terms. On-device OCR may still run on the device as described below. Offline translation quality can differ from cloud engines.

6. Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services including, but not limited to:

• Google Play Billing — subscription and in-app purchase processing. Payment card data is handled by Google, not by us.
• Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) — advertising in supported tiers.
• Google Cloud Translation API — machine translation for manual text input and on-device OCR text sent from the Translate tab.
• Google Gemini (Generative AI) — OCR and translation for screen overlay, bubble, and vision-based capture features. Content you capture may be processed by Google's AI models through our backend; it is not used by us to train our own models.
• Firebase / Google Cloud — app infrastructure, Cloud Functions proxy, Crashlytics crash reporting, and related analytics or configuration services where enabled.
• Google ML Kit and Google Play services — on-device text recognition (OCR) and, when you use Offline Translate, on-device translation models downloaded through Play services. Inference for Offline Translate runs on the device after download.
• On-device speech technologies — speech input processing on or through your device platform where supported.

These providers may collect identifiers, device information, IP address, ad interaction data, diagnostic data, or content submitted for processing under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review Google's Privacy Policy and Gemini API terms.

7. Advertising and Analytics

Free and some paid experiences may show ads through Google AdMob. Ad partners may use cookies, advertising IDs, or similar technologies to measure ad performance and deliver personalized or contextual ads according to your device settings and applicable law.

Crashlytics and related diagnostic tools help us identify stability issues. Crash collection is disabled in developer builds where configured and enabled for production builds to improve app quality.

8. Data Retention

Local app data remains on your device until you clear app storage or uninstall the App. Server-side logs and translation request records, if any, are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for security, billing reconciliation, abuse prevention, and service operation, then deleted or aggregated.

9. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

• With service providers that help us operate the App
• When required by law, legal process, or government request
• To protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the service
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required

10. International Transfers

If you use the App outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be processed in other countries with different data protection laws. We take reasonable steps to protect information in accordance with this Policy.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Access, correct, or delete certain information
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
• Opt out of personalized ads through your device advertising settings

13. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

The App or this website may contain links to third-party websites or services. We do not control and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated in-app where appropriate.
